School holiday boredom will be a thing of the past!
A fantastic job has been done in refurbishing the annex of Benchill Community Centre by Willow Park as part of an apprenticeship scheme. Open four nights a week and some weekends the Hub will have a cyber café, music and film studio, training in a range of subjects and offer opportunities to go on day trips, weekends away and international visits.
The project aims to inspire and support the growth and development of young people in the area.
Get Involved!
We want young people to become actively involved in the management and running of the Youth Hub. Amina Waldron, Youth Involvement Manager for Willow Park said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people, allowing them to make decisions that will affect their lives. The Youth Hub will be a vibrant, safe and welcoming centre where young people will want to be”.
We want your ideas to make The Hub even better and we promise they will be taken seriously. Young people have been actively involved in every stage of the hubs’ development. They have selected furniture and equipment to create a warm and friendly environment. It’s where young people want to be!
One local youth, Rhys, says: “We designed the layout and the internal design of The Hub. We were even involved in the appointment of staff. Also we’ll be involved in recruiting new sessional staff – It’s given us all lots of opportunity to develop our skills, have fun and be involved in a real and exciting new project, we’ve got the opportunity to do so much more”.

They also play pool and other sports such as basketball, football and dodgeball. At the moment they are planning a performance where everyone can get involved in singing, dancing, script writing, designing outfits or just generally helping pull the show together.
They would like to get more girls aged 11-19 years involved so if you are interested in having a go at any of the above and enjoy chatting and eating pizza then pop in with your mates on a Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm or call Jane on 07825 240 649.
