Wythenshawe Community Housing Group owns garages which are available to rent in various locations throughout the area, although most of the sites are in Woodhouse Park and Moss Nook.

How to apply

To apply for a garage you will need to complete and return an application form to Wythenshawe Community Housing Group. Depending on availability, we may put your application on the waiting list and send you confirmation that your application has been received. Applicants must be aged 18 or over and must not owe any money to Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.

Waiting list

Garages are not always immediately available. If there are no vacant garages available at the time you apply, your application will be placed on a waiting list. Garages are allocated on a first come, first served basis. How long you may wait to be offered a garage depends on the number of applications already on the waiting list for your chosen area. We can give you more information about this upon request.

Costs for garages

During 2013, our garages underwent a programme of refurbishment and the weekly rental charge for these are:

  • £7.00 for tenants of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group & leaseholders (VAT not included)
  • £8.40 for non-tenants (VAT included)

We also have a small number of garages that have not been refurbished. These are situated at Lomond Road in Peel Hall. The weekly charge to rent one of these garages is:

  • £3.20 for tenants of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (VAT not included)
  • £3.84 for non-tenants and leaseholders (VAT included)


Tenants and leaseholders of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group do not pay VAT on the first two garages they rent, however, if more than two garages are rented by the same tenant or leaseholder, then VAT is payable on the third and any subsequent garages rented by that person. For example, tenant Mr Smith rents three refurbished garages – the first two at £7.00 and the third at £8.40.

If you are registered disabled, you will receive a 50% discount on your weekly garage rent, just let us know by completing the relevant section on your application form.

Ending garage tenancy

You must give us 2 weeks notice that you wish to end your garage tenancy. You must hand in the keys to the Housing Office and the garage must be left empty, clean and in a good state of repair.
